Maastricht opens new sustainable artificial grass pitches

New artificial grass pitches have been officially opened at the Daalhof and Wolder sports parks in Maastricht. The project involved converting natural grass fields into modern, future-proof playing surfaces to support increased training and match frequency for local clubs.

In line with sustainability goals, these new fields do not use traditional rubber granules. Instead, they utilize Brockfill, a natural infill made from pine wood sourced from sustainably managed forests. The construction also employed a circular approach, reusing approximately 6,490 cubic meters of soil excavated from the sites within the municipality to minimize transport and waste.
