Maatrubhumi film awaits CBFC clearance due to geopolitical sensitivity

The war drama Maatrubhumi, starring Salman Khan, remains stalled awaiting clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Despite recent social media speculation suggesting an imminent screening, the film has not progressed in the certification process as of mid-September 2026.

The delay is reportedly linked to the film’s subject matter, which focuses on the 2020 Galwan Valley conflict involving China. The project, originally announced as Battle of Galwan, is facing scrutiny due to the geopolitical sensitivity of its content. Makers are reportedly working with government officials to resolve these issues.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is currently slated for a 2026 release, though industry sources suggest that if certification issues are not resolved promptly, the release could be pushed to 2027 due to limited theatrical availability.
