Mabel Mayo appointed as Government Delegate in Andalusia

The Spanish Council of Ministers has appointed Mabel Mayo López as the new Government Delegate in Andalusia. Mayo, who previously served as the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, has an extensive career in the Andalusian administration, having held various leadership roles in departments such as Justice and Interior, Culture, and Public Works.

Concurrently, Javier Salas is stepping down from his position as the Government Sub-delegate in Málaga to run as a PSOE candidate in the upcoming general elections. Iván Banderas, the Secretary General of the Sub-delegation, will serve as the interim replacement. In his farewell, Salas noted that despite the complexities of Málaga’s diverse population and economy, the province remains “very safe” with crime rates significantly lower than in other European countries.
