Mac DeMarco forms friendship and musical bond with Pender Island band The Dip
Musician Mac DeMarco has formed a close friendship with the Pender Island-based teenage band The Dip following a chance encounter at a local community concert in June 2025.
The relationship began when the six members of The Dip performed one of DeMarco's songs during a road construction celebration, unaware he was in the audience. Following this meeting, DeMarco collaborated with the group for a private charity concert in August, which raised an estimated $23,000 for Doctors Without Borders. DeMarco matched the total donation amount.
The band members, including Isamay Morton, Liam Harrison, Sydney Boyte, Faisal James, Koda Hartwood, and Kieran Wilkinson, now regularly interact with DeMarco at his home on Pender Island for musical recording and local activities.
