Macaé and Maricá host August races promoting women's safety and community spirit

The municipality of Macaé will hold the second Corrida Lilás on 30 August, featuring 5 km and 10 km runs and a 5 km walk. Organisers expect about a thousand participants and link the event to the national Agosto Lilás campaign that raises awareness against violence toward women.

In Maricá, the inaugural Corrida de Nossa Senhora do Amparo is scheduled for 9 August. Registrations sold out quickly; the race includes a 5 km run and a 2.5 km walk. Participants must collect kits on 7–8 August, which contain shirts, timing chips and medals, and may donate food during the event.
