Emelec draws 1-1 with Mushuc Runa, stays eighth in Ecuador LigaPro

Emelec hosted Mushuc Runa at the George Capwell stadium in Guayaquil for matchday 21 of the 2026 LigaPro. Juan Pablo Ruiz opened the scoring for the home side in the 28th minute, a goal confirmed by VAR. In the second half, Mushuc Runa equalised when forward Ronie Carrillo converted a penalty in the 64th minute, sealing a 1‑1 draw.

The result leaves Emelec in eighth place with 28 points, while Mushuc Runa remains twelfth with 25 points. Emelec will travel to face Deportivo Cuenca on 27 July, and Mushuc Runa meets Libertad on the same day.
