Macará defeated Liga de Quito 1-0 in the 17th round of Ecuador's Liga Pro Serie A on 5 July 2026, playing at the Bellavista stadium in Ambato. The only goal came in the 21st minute when Mateo Viera capitalised on a corner after goalkeeper Alexander Domínguez saved the initial shot, sending the ball into the net from the near post.

The victory gave Macará 23 points, while Liga de Quito moved to 27, remaining behind league leaders Independiente del Valle. The match also saw the debut of Argentine winger Agustín Campana for Macará and the introduction of several young players for Liga de Quito.

Both teams will continue their campaigns in the following round, with Macará facing Técnico Universitario and Liga de Quito hosting Libertad de Loja.
