Macarthur FC to host Perth Glory in A-League season opener

Macarthur FC will host Perth Glory at Campbelltown Stadium this Saturday for the opening round of the 2026-27 A-League season. The match serves as a curtain-raiser for the new premiership campaign.

Ahead of the season opener, Macarthur FC has appointed Liam Rose as club captain. Rose, a former Socceroo who has surpassed 140 A-League appearances, will lead a squad undergoing significant renewal under new head coach Sasa Ognenovski. Callum Talbot has been named vice-captain.

Recent form for both sides includes mixed results in friendly matches. Macarthur FC suffered a 1-0 friendly defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers in August, while Perth Glory lost 3-1 to Adelaide United in a recent preseason fixture. Historically, head-to-head matchups between the two clubs have been high-scoring, with eight of the last nine meetings producing three or more goals.
