MacArthur Foundation increases impact investment allocation to $750 million
The MacArthur Foundation is increasing its impact investment allocation by 50%, raising the dedicated capital pool to $750 million. Deployment of these funds is scheduled to begin in 2027.
This expansion aims to align the foundation’s financial resources with its mission to address economic inequality, housing affordability, clean energy, and community development. Unlike traditional grants, these impact investments are designed to generate financial repayments, allowing the foundation to reinvest and redeploy capital through successive project cycles.
Since 1983, the foundation has committed nearly $1 billion to impact investments, supporting approximately 300 organizations globally. In addition to the investment increase, the foundation’s board has extended its ‘Set it at Six’ commitment, which maintains a minimum 6% charitable payout through 2028.
