Macau and Angola sign mutual visa waiver agreement

Macau and Angola have signed a mutual visa waiver agreement, allowing residents of Macau and citizens of Angola to enter each other's territories without a visa. Under the terms of the agreement, Macau passport holders may enter Angola for a maximum of 30 days, with reciprocal conditions applied to Angolan passport holders.

Macau's Secretary for Administration and Justice, Wong Sio Chak, stated that the agreement will “significantly facilitate the lives” of residents, particularly regarding tourism, academic exchange, and commercial trade. He noted the measure aims to promote greater interaction between populations and deepen cultural exchange.

Eduardo Velasco Galiano, the Angolan consul in the region and delegate to the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, remarked that the agreement removes bureaucratic barriers that had previously caused some businesses to hesitate. Angola becomes the fourth Portuguese-speaking country to benefit from Macau's visa exemption regime, following Portugal, Brazil, and Cape Verde.
