Macau and São Tomé e Príncipe to sign anti-money laundering agreement
Macau and São Tomé e Príncipe are set to sign a memorandum of understanding to exchange financial information aimed at preventing money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
The agreement, announced by the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region, will involve cooperation between the Macau Financial Intelligence Office (GIF) and the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe. The protocol covers the exchange of information to combat money laundering, associated underlying crimes, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
This move follows previous international cooperation efforts by Macau, which signed a similar agreement with Angola in May 2025. Macau currently maintains information-sharing agreements with 33 countries and territories.
