Macau officials attend ASEAN digital economy forum

Macau officials attended the 2026 ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) Foresight and Strategic Cooperation Forum to promote digital trade and regional integration. The forum, organized by the ASEAN Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, focused on building an integrated digital economy and establishing trusted digital infrastructure within the ASEAN region.

ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn noted that DEFA serves as a milestone for digital transformation, with the potential to expand the regional digital economy to $2 trillion by 2030. Macau aims to leverage its position within the Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative to optimize its digital trade and fintech ecosystems, facilitating smoother cross-border services and data flow between Macau and ASEAN economies.
