Macau police intercept mainland students for illegal employment
Macau police intercepted two mainland Chinese students in Cotai on October 1 for illegal employment activities. The incident involved a 20-year-old female student who hired a 21-year-old photographer to provide travel photography services for her and two friends.
The arrangement was made via a social media platform, with an agreed rate of 400 RMB per hour. Both individuals entered Macau as ordinary tourists using their Exit-Entry Permits for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao, without obtaining the necessary work permits.
The employer has been referred to the Procuratorate for suspected illegal employment, while the photographer has been referred to the Labour Affairs Bureau for violating laws regarding the employment of non-resident workers.
