Macau police to deploy 3D scanners for accident analysis

The Public Security Police Force (CPSP) in Macau plans to implement 3D scanner cameras to analyze road accidents and determine their causes. These tools will allow authorities to produce detailed reports on critical traffic points, which may lead to infrastructure suggestions such as the removal of pedestrian crossings in high-risk areas.

In addition to accident analysis, the CPSP is testing biometric technology for border crossings between Macau and Hengqin. This experimental system uses facial and iris recognition, which would allow drivers to cross the border without leaving their vehicles as part of a broader border control modernization plan.

Regarding pedestrian safety, the CPSP reported that between January and August, over 870 cases were initiated for failure to yield priority to pedestrians at crossings, a figure nearly double that of the same period in 2025.
