Macau: The transformative journey of Álvaro dos Santos Rodrigues

Álvaro dos Santos Rodrigues, originally from Santiago Island, Cape Verde, recounts his transformative journey of settling in Macau. Arriving in 1990 with the intention of completing a five-year law degree and returning to his homeland, Rodrigues instead found a permanent home in the region.

Over the course of thirty-six years, he built a legal career and a family in Macau. He credits the University of Macau's former facilities with providing stability and a sense of community during his initial years of cultural adjustment and academic pursuit.
