MacBook Neo discounted €150, becomes Amazon’s top-selling laptop

Amazon is promoting the MacBook Neo as its best‑selling laptop after applying a €150 discount, reducing the base 256 GB model to €649 from the previous €799. The reduction makes the Neo the cheapest Apple notebook ever released, featuring a 13‑inch Liquid Retina display (2408 × 1506 pixels, 500 nits), an aluminium chassis identical to the MacBook Air and Pro, and up to 16 hours of battery life.

The Neo is powered by Apple’s A18 Pro chip – the same processor used in the iPhone 16 Pro, repurposed as a binned chip for the laptop – delivering performance between the M1 and M2 series and outpacing some low‑end Intel and Snapdragon CPUs. Reviewers note that while the Neo lacks some premium features of the MacBook Air (such as MagSafe, Thunderbolt 4 ports and a Force Touch trackpad), it offers full macOS at a sub‑€1,000 price, positioning it against budget‑friendly Chromebooks.

Analysts expect the discounted price to be temporary, as Apple has recently raised prices on many devices and the Neo’s stock may soon run out. The laptop’s strong value proposition has sparked interest among students and cost‑conscious consumers worldwide.
