MACC and FBI strengthen cooperation to combat corruption and cross-border crime
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are strengthening their cooperation to combat corruption and cross-border crime. During a meeting at the MACC headquarters, FBI Law Enforcement Attaché Varinder Singh and MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman discussed sharing expertise, capacity building, and operational coordination to address fraud and transnational criminal challenges.
Separately, Datuk Seri Abdul Halim Aman emphasized the importance of translating research on governance, integrity, and anti-corruption into actionable policies and improved work processes. Speaking at the 5th National Governance, Integrity, and Anti-Corruption Research Conference, he advocated for “evidence-based policymaking” to identify systemic weaknesses and assess policy effectiveness. Between 2020 and 2025, 50 research projects were conducted through grants under the National Governance, Integrity, and Anti-Corruption Centre (GIACC) to support these efforts.
