MACC finds no corruption in KWAP eFishery investment probe

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has stated that no elements of corruption, misappropriation, or abuse of power have been detected so far in its investigation into Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP) investment in the Indonesian aquaculture company eFishery. The investment is valued at RM163.4 million.

MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed that 19 witnesses, including officials from KWAP, the Ministry of Finance, and Khazanah Nasional Berhad, have been interviewed. While domestic investigations are nearing completion, no arrests have been made as there is currently no perceived necessity for them.

The investigation is expected to take more time as authorities await financial documents and information from overseas banks. This requires Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) requests to be processed through the Attorney General's Chambers for Singapore, Indonesia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.
