MacDill Air Force Base civilian breach leads to violent confrontation
A civilian was detained after breaching the perimeter of MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred around 1 p.m., when the unauthorized individual crossed the base boundary and “violently engaged” responding security personnel.
During the physical struggle, both the assailant and a security officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both individuals were transported to a local medical facility for treatment. Following the confrontation, the base closed the Dale Mabry Gate to all inbound and outbound traffic, advising the public to avoid the area.
MacDill Air Force Base serves as the headquarters for U.S. Central Command. While officials have not yet identified the assailant or established a motive for the breach, law enforcement authorities are actively investigating how the individual bypassed the perimeter. The investigation is ongoing.
