MACE Museum in Elvas inaugurates two new temporary exhibitions

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Elvas (MACE) has inaugurated two new temporary exhibitions: “Pedras, Paus e Foices – Entre Guerras” and “Museu Pessoal”.

“Pedras, Paus e Foices – Entre Guerras”, curated by Ana Cristina Cachola and Patrícia Craveiro Lopes, features works by Cláudia Cruz Guerreiro and Marta Castelo. The exhibition utilizes rural and domestic tools traditionally used by women in the Alentejo and Algarve regions.

“Museu Pessoal”, curated by João Silvério, features the artist Pedro Gomes and explores a relationship with the history of the museum building, which formerly served as the Hospital da Misericórdia. Both exhibitions will remain on display until January 17, 2027, as part of the lead-up to the museum's 20th anniversary.
