Macedonia: DOM party demands transparency over antimony mining project
The Democratic Renewal of Macedonia (DOM) party has called for transparency regarding the Krstov Dol antimony mining project near the village of Luke. The party is demanding that the government provide verifiable information and not use the strategic importance of global supply chains as a justification for bypassing standard procedures.
DOM highlighted that the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) signed a $5 million agreement with Pela Global in April, noting these funds are strictly for feasibility studies and research to confirm project sustainability. The party is requesting answers concerning proven ore reserves, geological studies, planned exploitation technology, water consumption, and environmental protection measures. Additionally, they are seeking guarantees regarding waste storage safety and financial coverage for land reclamation costs.
