Macedonia Health Ministry orders extraordinary inspection after 19‑year‑old paralysed post‑caesarean

The Ministry of Health of North Macedonia announced it is closely monitoring the case of a 19‑year‑old woman who became paralysed following a caesarean section performed at the Clinical Hospital in Štip.

The ministry has ordered the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate to carry out an extraordinary inspection of the three hospitals where the patient, identified as Stanka Mihajlova from Banica village, received treatment. After the inspection report and a review of all medical records, a professional oversight involving experts in gynecology, neurology and urology will be initiated to determine whether medical errors contributed to the severe complication. The ministry emphasized that no premature conclusions should be drawn and that the public will be kept informed.
