Macedonia hosts major wine festivals and Vranec World Day

Macedonia is hosting significant wine-related events focused on promoting local viticulture and traditional gastronomy.

The eighth edition of Vranec World Day was held on October 5 at the Cultural Information Center in Skopje, organized by the Wines of Macedonia Association. The event showcased the diversity of the Vranec grape variety through tastings from numerous wineries, including Tikveš, Kamnik, Venech, and Popova Kula. During the ceremony, British writer and former diplomat Ian Bancroft was named the 2026 Vranec Ambassador. Bancroft noted that while the Macedonian wine scene is progressing, there is a need for improved infrastructure and institutional support to enhance wine tourism.

Additionally, the Winefest 2026 is scheduled to take place from October 16 to 18 at the Macedonian Village ethno-complex on Vodno. Under the theme ‘Taste Macedonia in a Glass,’ the three-day festival will feature tastings from various Macedonian wineries alongside traditional Macedonian cuisine. The event will also include a musical program with performances by artists such as Nino Velichkovski, Blagica Pavlovska, and others.
