The Macedonian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that regular traffic controls in July 2026 resulted in 20,976 issued fines. Of these, 4,241 violations involved drivers exceeding the speed limit.

A total of 496 people were deprived of their freedom for reckless driving, including 81 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 373 for driving without a licence, 25 for breaching a prior driving ban, three for speeding in built‑up areas, 13 for speeding outside built‑up areas and one for driving in a prohibited direction. Police also seized 332 vehicles under article 300‑b of the Criminal Code.

Additional infractions recorded were 4,694 illegal parking offences and 430 alcohol‑related driving sanctions. Safety‑related penalties included 2,073 motorcyclists fined for not wearing helmets, 1,829 road users fined for not using seat‑belts, 299 unregistered vehicles removed from circulation, 125 vehicles withdrawn for technical faults, and 44 drivers penalised for non‑compliant darkened windows. The authorities said traffic checks will continue in the coming days.
