Macedonia police detain 12 people in drug raids across Skopje and border towns

On 10–11 July 2026 Macedonian police detained 12 individuals in a series of operations in Skopje, at the Tabankovce border crossing, and in the towns of Prilep, Negotino and Debar. The arrests were made after officers from the Special Police Unit and regional police discovered marijuana, a white powdery substance and a brown powdery substance during vehicle and personal searches. The persons detained ranged in age from 21 to 52 and included residents of Skopje, Prilep, Kumaniovo and other locations. Public prosecutors were notified and the cases are being prepared for further legal action.

The operation involved checks of a Land Rover with Swiss plates at the Tabankovce crossing, a vehicle in Debar and personal inspections in other locales. Authorities documented each case and indicated that appropriate legal submissions will follow.
