Macedonian BDI Party Accused of Misusing €9 million EU Funds on Zajaz Sewage Project

The BDI party, which has governed the Kërçovë municipality for three consecutive terms, is facing criticism over an unfinished sewage project in the village of Zajaz. The scheme, financed with more than €9 million from European Union funds, was supposed to be completed by 2024 but remains stalled, leaving residents with exposed septic pits.

Local activists note that the party has stayed silent about the delay, repeating slogans of patriotism while avoiding answers. They allege that the EU money meant for basic infrastructure has been misdirected, and they quote the chant “Hesht Ali Ahmeti.” demanding that the Zajaz‑Dugovë sewage works be finished without further postponement.
