Macedonian Constitutional Court warns parties against politicising its work

The Constitutional Court of North Macedonia issued a statement condemning attempts by political parties to use the Court’s activity for partisan calculations and the gathering of political points. It emphasized that the Court will not succumb to political pressure, will uphold its constitutional jurisdiction, and noted that its decisions are final, binding and of general obligation.

The Court highlighted its ongoing international cooperation, citing three memoranda of understanding signed with the Constitutional Courts of Kosovo, the Arab Republic of Egypt and Serbia, and its role as chair of this year’s Balkan Forum of Constitutional Courts. It called on political actors to demonstrate responsibility, refrain from spreading misinformation, and respect the rule of law and European values.
