Macedonian customs to tighten controls on boat operations at Lake Ohrid
The Macedonian Customs Administration, through its Operational Works Department of the Control and Investigation sector, will carry out intensified field inspections of boating facilities on Lake Ohrid. The inspections aim to verify the current customs status of all vessels and ensure compliance with customs regulations. Owners and users of boats that have not completed the required customs procedures are urged to regularise their status promptly.
Vessels found with an unregulated customs status will be subject to legal action, including determination of obligations and temporary detention until full compliance is achieved. The controls also cover non‑resident vessels operating under temporary import permits, which must either leave the customs territory or undergo the appropriate customs procedures. Additionally, checks will be made to confirm that vessels are managed solely by individuals with the legal right to do so. Citizens and foreign nationals are called upon to adhere to the prevailing customs regulations.
