Macedonian Parliament's Summer Break Leaves Key Laws Blocked

North Macedonia's Assembly will observe a three‑week summer recess after completing 120 plenary sessions since the start of its term. Several important bills remain unpassed because a quorum – referred to as the "badenter" – was not reached.

Opposition parties, including the Albanian Front, plan to use the break to file thousands of amendments and criticize the ruling coalition's attempts to bypass the quorum requirement. VMRO‑DPMNE coordinator Nikolla Micevski said there is no agreement on certain legal solutions and expects discussions to resume after the recess. Albanian MP Skender Rexhepi warned that the opposition will employ the "badenter" mechanism to protect Albanian interests and accused the government of trying to push legislation through outside the Assembly.
