Macedonian PM Christian Micski pledges stronger Interpol cooperation amid opposition drug smuggling accusations

Prime Minister Christian Micski met the Secretary‑General of Interpol and announced plans to intensify cooperation with the agency in the fight against organized crime.

Opposition party SDSM criticised the move, urging Micski to begin by investigating his own circles, including the VMRO‑DPM organization, and to request an Interpol probe into a case involving five tonnes of narcotics that allegedly crossed the Macedonian border and ended up in the Serbian village of Konjuh. The opposition alleges that high‑level officials, including a local SNS functionary and a ministerial deputy, were linked to the shipment and that drug trafficking has flourished under Micski’s government.
