Macedonian political group urges abandonment of Prespa Agreement after EU says no guarantees

The political organization Macedonian Concept, part of the governing coalition “Your Macedonia”, responded to European Commission Vice‑President Marta Kos’s statement that there are no guarantees for North Macedonia’s EU membership. The group argued that without such guarantees the 2018 Prespa Agreement, which enabled the country’s name change, was adopted without a real prospect of EU accession.

Macedonian Concept called on the government to cease using the name “North” domestically and said the issue would be raised within the coalition, emphasizing the need for a clear and reciprocal partnership with the EU.
