Macedonia's Bojan Stojanski Unveils Fiscal Rebalance to Raise Salaries, Pensions and Investment

Macedonian MP Bojan Stojanski, a senior member of VMRO‑DPMNE, presented a fiscal “rebalance” aimed at converting each denar of public revenue into concrete projects, services and benefits for citizens. The plan forecasts total state revenues of 379.5 billion denars, up 1.2% (4.5 bn denars) from the previous figure of 374.9 bn. Capital‑investment allocations rise by 14.5% (5.8 bn denars), while development sub‑programs increase by 11.4% (4.2 bn denars). For the first five months of 2026, projected revenues total 140.162 bn denars, 5.7% higher year‑on‑year, with customs collections reaching a record‑high June 2026 level, 50 million euros above the previous year.

Key spending increases include: wages and allowances up by 1.128 bn denars to honor collective agreements and raise salaries; subsidies and transfers exceeding 3 bn denars for agriculture, rail transport, student standards, maternity leave and VAT refunds; and social transfers up by 2.234 bn denars for pensions, health protection and other essential state obligations. The rebalance is presented as a catalyst for higher wages, improved pensions, support for the private sector and overall societal growth.
