Macedonia's Education Minister Vesna Janevska Pushes to Unblock Higher‑Education Laws
North Macedonia's Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, said the three pending higher‑education bills – covering university organization, research activity and quality standards – remain blocked in parliament because they lack the required Badinter mechanism approval. She warned that each day of delay harms the country's youth and pledged to take part in another public debate in the Assembly to secure their passage.
Janevska emphasized that the legislation concerns merit‑based elements such as the organization of higher education, the quality of professors and increased practical training for students. She argued that the Badinter mechanism should not be used as a political tool and called for a swift, non‑political solution to unblock the laws.
