Macedonia agricultural output and exports surge under VMRO‑DPMNE policies

The ruling VMRO‑DPMNE party announced that in the two‑year period since taking power, Macedonia’s agriculture sector has shown significant growth. Export of agricultural products and processed goods reached 417 million euros for 2025, generating a surplus of 215 million euros. Production of cow milk rose 2.7 %, sheep milk 4 %, and pork output increased enough to meet domestic demand, while about 300 000 tonnes of wheat were produced and sold.

Key policy measures included the payment of over 15 billion denars in subsidies, with around 4 billion denars disbursed early in the mandate to clear back‑log payments. Livestock subsidies were increased by 50 % and bureaucratic hurdles such as double reporting were removed, preventing roughly 7 000 farmers from losing financial support. The purchase price for first‑class wheat was raised to 400 denars per kilogram and a new methodology for calculating grape production prices boosted winegrowers’ receipts by 25 %.

Support for young farmers continued, with 117 projects approved and 69 million euros allocated. Modernisation efforts saw 57 agreements worth 34 million denars for acquiring special rice combine harvesters and mini‑dryers, plus additional contracts supporting local fairs and exhibitions. According to the party, the combined actions have improved living standards for farmers across the country.
