Macedonia's Foreign Minister Mucunski says Ankara NATO summit strengthens alliance
Macedonian Foreign Minister Timcho Mucunski highlighted the outcomes of the NATO summit held in Ankara on 9 July 2026. He said the alliance approved a joint decision to increase defence investment, further boost collective defence capabilities, rebalance responsibilities among members and maintain support for Ukraine. “The message is clear: NATO delivers results. We have confirmed the joint decision for greater defence investment, further strengthening of defence capacities, a fairer distribution of responsibilities among allies and continued support for Ukraine,” he posted on social media.
Mucunski noted that Macedonia’s delegation, led by President Gordana Siljanovska‑Davkova and Defence Minister Vlado Misajlovski, held numerous bilateral meetings with NATO members and partners, including the Dutch foreign minister. He affirmed Macedonia’s ongoing commitment to contribute to the alliance’s security and stability.
The summit’s decisions are seen as a step toward deeper trans‑Atlantic unity amid complex geopolitical challenges.
