Macedonia's President Demands Judicial Reforms and Property Origin Audits

President Gordana Siljanovska‑Davková told a media interview that public confidence in the judiciary is barely two percent and can only be restored through "serious reforms". She urged a full investigation into the origins of officials’ wealth, saying it is essential to verify how officials entered and left public office.

Siljanovska‑Davková warned that allowing money and influence to buy positions undermines justice and called for stricter criteria in appointing judges and public prosecutors. She also linked these reforms to Macedonia’s European Union accession path, noting that EU reports highlight the need for deeper changes beyond merely harmonising legislation.
