Macedonia's State Debt Falls to 51.7% of GDP, Down 40 Million Euros
Macedonian government spokesperson Sergej Popov announced that the country's state debt will stand at €9.432 billion, or 51.7% of GDP, by 30 June 2026. This represents a reduction of about €41 million compared with the previous month.
The public‑sector debt also declined, reaching 58.8% of GDP in the second quarter. The government credited its fiscal policies, investment projects and “intensive work” for the improvement. Gross domestic product has grown by at least 3% for seven consecutive quarters, while inflation remains low at 3.4%.
Popov said the administration, led by the VMRO‑DPMNE party, will continue to stabilise public finances and pursue policies aimed at raising living standards for Macedonian citizens.
