Macedonian students completing the 2025‑26 school year took three types of external state exams – standard, professional and artistic – for the first time under a new concept. The overall average score was 3.66, with 3.62 for the standard exam, 3.91 for the professional and 3.59 for the artistic. A total of 14,587 candidates were registered: 12,184 for the standard exam, 2,276 for the professional and 127 for the artistic. 348 registered students (2.39%) did not attend. Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska said she was satisfied with the results, noting they were “objective” and almost unchanged from the previous year’s 3.69, and markedly better than 2024’s 3.26. She praised the preparation of schools, test administrators (about 2,500) and observers (around 200). Subject‑wise averages included 3.93 in mother‑tongue, 3.31 in English, and 4.20 in mathematics, with foreign‑language scores above 4.0. No widespread cheating was reported; 226 students had their tests cancelled for irregularities. Director of the State Exam Center Daniela Jovčevska‑Mihajlovska echoed the minister’s assessment of the objective outcomes.
