Macedonia's Supreme Prosecutor Appeals Halted Investigation into €167‑Million Mazut Deal

Antonio Miloshovski, a member of the VMRO‑DPMNE parliamentary group and envoy, said the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office (ESM) filed an appeal that proves prosecutors Kolarevich and Abazi acted unprofessionally and in a lump‑sum manner in the Mazut case. The case concerns a €167 million purchase of fuel oil for the Negotino thermal power plant. Miloshovski argued the prosecutors, linked to parties close to SDSM and DUI, acted as protectors of their patrons and conducted a largely superficial investigation, ignoring key evidence. The ESM appeal gives legal grounds to reassess the decision to stop the investigation and could allow the probe to resume. He called for the prosecution to remove any business or political partners and ensure that all suspects in the alleged illegal purchase face trial.
