Maceió and Rio Branco unveil new public leisure facilities

Mayor Rodrigo Cunha of Maceió inaugurated the Mirante do Jacintinho, a new viewpoint and leisure complex in the Jacintinho neighbourhood. The project, costing more than R$ 3 million, occupies 7,009 m² and includes a sand field, synthetic‑grass football arena, outdoor gym, children's playgrounds and covered seating. Cunha said, “We are delivering a complete, beautiful, safe space prepared for families,” adding that the mirante enhances the city’s cultural and tourism profile.

In Rio Branco, Mayor Alysson Bestene reopened the renovated José Augusto poliesportive court, the 83rd such facility renovated by the municipal government. The upgrade added fresh paint, a new playground, modern furniture and improved safety features. Bestene emphasized the city’s commitment to “continue the work started by the previous administration, recovering and revitalising public spaces for sport and community interaction.” Both projects aim to increase safety, accessibility and quality of life for local residents.
