Maceió, Brazil celebrates quadrilha victory and Maracatu Day festivities

The Brazilian National Quadrilha Juninas Championship was held in Maceió, Alagoas, featuring groups from more than 20 states and the Federal District. The group Garranxê from Roraima won first place with the theme "Resistência" honoring the people of Mossoró, and also received awards for Best Wedding and Best Couple of Newlyweds. The event introduced new categories such as Best Musical Repertoire and Best Live Trio.

On August 1, the National Maracatu Day was marked in Maceió's Jaraguá neighborhood with a free street parade of eight Alagoas maracatu groups. The procession, organized collectively with the Tambores do Jaraguá movement, paid tribute to Mestre Luiz de França and highlighted the collaborative direction of the participating ensembles.
