Maceió police seize over 109 kg of explosives

More than 109 kilograms of explosive material were seized in the Cidade Universitária neighborhood of Maceió after being discovered by construction workers at a recently acquired property.

The Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE) and the Bomb Squad managed the safe removal of the materials, which included approximately 69.46 kg of explosive emulsion, 39.9 kg of ANFO, 23 meters of NP10, and 10 detonators. Authorities noted that the volume and nature of the materials posed a significant risk to public safety in the event of an accidental detonation.

The Scientific Police of Alagoas conducted forensic examinations at the site. The investigation has been handed over to the Directorate of Repression of Corruption and Organized Crime (Dracco) to determine the origin of the explosives and the circumstances regarding their storage at the location.
