Maceió police investigate murder of young woman linked to organized crime

Police in Maceió, Brazil, are investigating the murder of 19-year-old Norma Ramoniky dos Santos Souza, who was found shot to death in her apartment at Conjunto Medeiros Neto in the Santa Amélia neighborhood.

Initial investigations by the Homicide and Person Protection Department (DHPP) suggest the victim had ties to organized crime. Authorities report that she allegedly used her residence to store firearms and host meetings for a criminal group. Investigators noted that she had recently moved from the Cleto Marques Luz area following disputes with individuals linked to criminal activities.

Crime scene forensics recovered an intact 9mm caliber round from the apartment. While police have not yet arrested a suspect, they are working to identify the perpetrators and determine the exact motivation behind the killing. Detectives have ruled out domestic violence or gender-based motives at this stage, focusing instead on the victim's potential involvement with local factions.
