Maceió police kill one and arrest another in lawyer's murder case

A Civil Police operation in Maceió resulted in the death of one suspect and the arrest of another in connection with the murder of lawyer Ana Walesca do Nascimento Gomes. The operation took place between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

According to investigators, the arrested individual was the driver of the motorcycle used in the crime, while the deceased suspect is believed to be the shooter. The attack occurred on Tuesday evening in the Benedito Bentes neighborhood while the victim was walking her dog. She was struck by approximately five shots to the head and chest.

The Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-AL) issued a statement expressing deep sadness and indignation over the homicide, calling for a rigorous investigation and the strict punishment of those responsible.
