Brazil economic indicators show rising commodity and real estate costs

Brazil's economic indicators show varied trends for September 2026. The IGP-DI rose by 1.50%, up from 0.06% in August, driven by increases in agricultural commodities like soy and corn, as well as rising gasoline prices. This acceleration was reflected in the IPA-DI, which climbed 1.95%.

In the residential real estate sector, Maceió saw a 5.41% increase in property prices, with the Pajuçara neighborhood recording the highest average price at R$ 14,262 per square meter. Meanwhile, Porto Alegre experienced the highest monthly rent increase among major capitals at 0.57%, contributing to a 12-month rental rise of 4.36%.

Additionally, the Brazil Commodity Index (IC-Br) rose 1.47% in September, following a 3.61% increase in August. The index has accumulated an 8.13% rise over the last 12 months, indicating sustained pressure from international commodity prices on the domestic economy.
