Maceió reorganizes street vendors on the city waterfront

The City of Maceió is implementing a new reorganization plan for street vendors along the Pajuçara waterfront. Under the direction of the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security (Semsc), approximately 200 workers will be relocated to designated areas known as 'Vila dos Sabores'.

The initiative aims to improve pedestrian circulation, accessibility, and security in one of the capital's busiest tourist areas. To facilitate identification, participating vendors will receive vests and ID badges. The new spaces are scheduled to operate daily from 10:00 to 22:00.

Prior to the relocation, the city conducted two censuses to identify active workers and updated registration records. Selection criteria prioritize residents of Maceió. The municipal government has also held public hearings to facilitate dialogue between workers, residents, and authorities to balance commercial activity with public space organization.
