Campinas and Maceió report fatal incidents involving fire and execution

In Campinas, São Paulo, two women were arrested after a fire broke out in an apartment in Jardim Itayu, leaving a 3-year-old child dead and two others, aged 4 and 6, injured. The children were reportedly left unattended in the residence when the blaze began. The property is part of an area subject to a judicial repossession order.

In Maceió, Alagoas, a 17-year-old named Mateus Fernandes Ursulino was executed by gunmen in the Santa Amélia neighborhood. The attackers, described as hooded individuals in a white vehicle, impersonated police officers to gain entry to the home. The killing occurred hours after the teenager had received a judicial summons to testify regarding a homicide investigation. Police are investigating whether the attack was a targeted retaliation or an attempt to silence a witness.
