Macerata businesses face forced closures for government palace repairs
Local businesses in Macerata face mandatory one-month closures due to upcoming post-earthquake reconstruction work at the government palace. The project involves complex interventions on both the interior and exterior of the building, which houses the police headquarters and prefecture.
To manage safety during the installation of scaffolding and repairs to the upper floors, the Province—the owner of the building—will implement staggered closures for ground-floor shops. Business owners are currently in discussions with provincial authorities regarding potential compensation and relief measures to mitigate the impact of these forced shutdowns.
