Macerata expands shuttle service due to Giardini Diaz elevator closure
The municipality of Macerata and APM have expanded a shuttle bus service to mitigate travel disruptions caused by the temporary closure of elevators at Giardini Diaz. The elevators, which connect the Giardini Diaz area to the historic center, are out of service for several months due to replacement works.
Starting Monday, October 12, the shuttle service will include morning hours to better assist residents, students, and workers. The service operates Monday through Saturday during two main windows: 07:30 to 15:00 and 15:30 to 20:00. Buses depart from Piazzale dei Giardini Diaz and arrive at Piazza Oberdan without intermediate stops, running approximately every ten minutes when passengers are on board.
For individuals with disabilities or mobility difficulties, a dedicated transport service using specialized vehicles is available via reservation through the Ircr operational center. Mobility Councilor Barbara Antolini stated that the expanded morning schedule provides a structured response to the needs of those who live, study, or work in the historic center.
