Macerata football clubs launch NGD Cup to honor victims of fatal accident

Cluentina Calcio and Vr Macerata, in collaboration with the TriStar association, are organizing the inaugural NGD Cup – Insieme nel ricordo. The football tournament is dedicated to the memory of Nicolas Calabrese, Giorgio Franceschini, and Daniele Francalancia, three young men who died in a highway accident on June 14.

The tournament's name is derived from the initials of the three victims. Rather than a purely commemorative event, the initiative aims to foster community aggregation, promote sporting values, and raise funds for the social projects of the TriStar association.

The competition begins on Wednesday, August 26, with two simultaneous triangular tournaments. In the ‘Tonino Seri’ group at Collevario, SS Maceratese 1922 (Juniores nazionale), Helvia Recina, and Cluentina will compete. In the ‘San Giuliano’ group at La Pace, Atletico Macerata, San Claudio, and Vr Macerata will face off. The winners of each group will meet in the final on September 2 at San Giuliano.
